SAN ANTONIO (July 24, 2012) -- The Hispanic Sports Foundation for Education, Inc. and Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) entered into a partnership in 2009 to annually award scholarships to deserving student-athletes from the San Antonio area. This past Saturday, six incoming OLLU freshmen received their awards from the foundation during its annual National Hispanic Heritage Hall of Honor banquet. During the award ceremony, OLLU Athletic Director Jack Hank renewed the partnership, now in its fourth year.



 

The scholarship recipients are as follows:
  

Soccer: Alex Diehl
Judson High School
3.571 GPA; 25-5A All-District First Team; Major: Criminal Justice

Volleyball: Alexandria Cruz
La Vernia High School
Academic All-District; Player of the Year

Women's Basketball: Alyssa Browne
Brandeis High School
Leading Scorer in Brandeis' History; Ranked in Top 25% of Her Class

Cross-Country: Marianna Hurtado
Madison High School
Multiyear UIL Regional IV Qualifier

Tennis: Estanislado G. Martinez Jr.
Carrizo Springs High School
Four-Time Regional Champ; Ranked in Top 15% of Class;
Major in Business Accounting

Volleyball: Claire LaHue
La Vernia High School
District 28-3A All-District Second Team
