The Saints women's basketball team played excellent defense it its defeat of the Lady Steers of Texas College, 81-72, Saturday afternoon at Mabee Gymnasium. In addition, the Saints traveled to Dallas on Monday and beat Paul Quinn College 85-68 to improve their record to 4-2 in the conference.
Alisha Crump put the first points on the board at 18:30 into the game against Texas College. This gave the Saints the momentum, while Texas College could not get its rhythm. After careless mistakes by the Lady Steers, including players stepping out of bounds and several traveling violations, the Saints went up 6-1 before Texas College would put any more points on the board.

Kenisha McDade was on a terror with just about every attempt at a basket resulting in points. At 5'3" Victoria Resendez faked a pass on 5'11" Keyara Criner giving McDade the opportunity to shoot a basket and two foul shots. The score was now at 18-11 with 10:44 left in the first half.

The Lady Steers kept their bad luck going when British Thomas was assessed a technical because of foul language. Manning shot the two technical foul shots as well as a regular foul shot, increasing the Saints lead to 23-15. A short while later, Texas College's Sequoia Forney was assessed a technical because of unsportsmanlike conduct, and the score was now 33-21.

The Lady Steers were able to score 11 points in a little more than two minutes, taking the score to 39-32 to end the first half.

Texas College began the second half with a renewed energy scoring six points before Manning was able to put two in for the Saints. This would be the closest the Lady Steers would get to the Saints at 41-40.

The Saints finished out the game at 81-72. Texas College shot 22 of 54 field goals (.402) and 25 of 36 free throws (.694), while OLLU shot 29 of 74 field goals (.392) and 17 of 25 free throws (.680).

McDade led the Saints in points with 23; Manning had 21; Crump finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two assists.
