The Saints women's basketball team overcame a 17-point deficit in the second half to beat the Wildcats of Wiley College in overtime on Monday evening at Mabee Gymnasium.

The game began with the Saints taking a quick 7-2 lead on key baskets by Kenisha McDade and Beth Hampton. But after a defensive foul by Ashley Hicks, the Wildcats went on a nine-point run, and the Saints would not regain the lead again until late in the second half. The team's biggest lead was 17 against OLLU, and the half ended with the Saints trailing Wiley 20-35. The Saints shot 22% from the field compared to Wiley, who shot 47%.

The second half began with a two-pointer made by Alisha Crump. Wiley's turnovers helped the Saints kick-start their offense, and after a three-pointer made by Hampton, Wiley's lead was cut down to five points with 13 minutes left in the half.

The lead would go back and fourth for the next 12 minutes until a hard-fought rebound by Crump pushed the Saints to within one point of the lead, 59-60, with 1:35 left in the game. Stacey Darnley committed a foul, which gave Wiley's Christina Kincade a trip to the foul line. She made one of two shots, and the score was now 59-61. Vernessa Roberts got the rebound from the missed foul shot, but Kincade stole the ball; Darnley quickly stole the ball back, and Wiley's Kontessa Braggs fouled her. Darnley made both free throws to tie the score at 61. Ashley Hicks committed a foul, and gave Fredrica Hutchinson the opportunity to make two shots from the line taking the score to 61-63. Manning then took the ball down the court to score the tying basket as time ran out in the second half. The Saints shot 33% from the field compared to Wiley, who shot 44.8%.

The Saints kicked off the overtime period with pure determination to win. The team held its lead throughout the five minutes and ended the game with a 77-72 win.

Manning led the Saints in scoring with 18 points. Crump finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds. The Saints are now 5-3 in the conference, while Wiley College dropped to 2-6. They will travel to Waxahachie on Thursday to play Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
