The Saints women's basketball team closed out its inaugural season Saturday afternoon with a 75-70 win against Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. The Saints improved to 16-14 overall and 12-8 in the conference, while TWU dropped to 19-9 and 15-5 in conference. The Saints finished in fifth place in the conference and will be the fifth seed in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament that begins on March 4. The Saints are scheduled to play at 3 p.m.
   
The Saints led by as much as 14 points in the first half before the Lady Rams would come within three. The teams went to the locker room with the Saints leading 34-31.
 
At the 16th minute of the second half, the Rams took over the lead at 39-34. The teams played tough throughout the period, and with less than five minutes left in the game, the Rams took over the lead at 62-58. Crump took the lead back with less than three minutes left and the Saints held on through the end of the game.
 
Kenisha McDade led the team in scoring with 16 for the Saints, while both Krystal Manning and Stacey Darnley contributed 14 points each. Crump chipped in 13.
 
Ashley Davis for TWU finished with 33 points.
 

The Saints made 25 of 61 field goals (.410), six of 16 3-pointers (.375) and 19 of 37 free throws (.514).
