The no. 5-seed Saints women's basketball team shocked no. 4-seed Jarvis Christian College Thursday afternoon with a 75-66 win in the Red River Athletic Conference Quarterfinals at Waxahachie High School.

The Saints advance to the semifinals on Friday against no. 1-seed Langston University at 3 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to Saturday's championship match at 5 p.m.

The Saints picked up the first possession after tip-off at 3:15 p.m., and Alisha Crump scored for the Saints. Kenisha McDade followed with a layup and Stacey Darnley sank a 3-pointer to give the Saints a 7-0 lead.

Darnley made three of four 3-pointers in the first half. Manning contributed 11 points after sinking four of seven field goals and two of three 3-pointers. McDade's six points and five boards sent the Saints to the locker room at halftime with a 48-28 lead.

The Saints kept up their energy into the second half by maintaining a consistent 20-point lead through eight minutes into the second half to put them ahead 64-24. With less than three minutes left in the game, the Saints were ahead 73-56. The lead gave the Saints the opportunity to run the clock down to the end to conclude the quarterfinal match with the 75-66 win.

Leading the Saints in scoring was Darnley with 17 and Manning with 11. The Saints shot 55% from the free throw line and 40% of their field goals.

In the two previous meetings, the Saints dropped both games to the Bulldogs, 68-62 and 70-65. Jarvis Christian ends its season with 13-8 conference and 17-17 overall records after today's single elimination loss.
