The Saints traveled to New Mexico last weekend to take on the University of the Southwest. The games scheduled for Saturday were postponed to Sunday because of rain. The Saints won the doubleheader 5-3 and 10-6, improving their record to 25-13 overall and 20-6 in the Red River Athletic Conference.
Dawn Villegas was credited with the first win, when she allowed seven hits, three walks and four strikeouts. Getting hits for the Saints were Brooke Hernandez, Villegas, Tiffany Stritz, Ashley Elizalde and Kaitlyn Bourg, while Corina Noel and Maria Flores each got two hits. Scoring for the Saints were Villegas, Noel and Meagan Potts, and Stritz had a home run. Hernandez had two RBIs, and Stritz, Noel, and Bourg had one each.
On April 20, the Saints will take on the University of Houston at Victoria. The two teams faced each other on March 2 and the Saints lost both games to the Jaguars, 2-5 and 2-6.
