She will attend OLLU on a full scholarship for both athletics and academics. Active in her school's band, choir and drama programs, Echeverria will take a course in music as part of her scholarship. She plans to major in sociology and minor in Spanish.
This year, Echeverria helped her team win its first district championship in cross-country. She placed third in District 23-4A this spring in the 3,200-meter run and placed 10th at the regional meet in Huntsville, Texas.
"Laura is a great addition to our team," said Head Cross-Country Coach Stephen Sherman. "She has the talent to help us improve our standing in the conference immediately. Furthermore, she is a great student and, most importantly, a great person. We look forward to having Laura on the team and on campus at OLLU."
