SAN ANTONIO (July 21, 2010) -- Our Lady of the Lake University announced that Leslie C. Cooper will join the women's tennis team during the 2010-2011 season. The San Antonio native is a graduate of Oliver Wendell Holmes High School in the Northside Independent School District.
   
At Holmes High School, Cooper received the UIL Scholar Athlete Award. Her team finished in 4th place in the District 28 5A Girl Singles tournament. She was a member of the National Junior Honor Society and was ranked 10th in her class of 281.
 
Cooper also excelled in band and played the saxophone. She was voted "Most Friendly" all of the four years she spent in band.
 
Cooper will receive a scholarship from the Hispanic Sports Foundation and is a recipient of the Heritage Scholarship at OLLU. She plans to major in elementary education.
The NAIA Champions of Character program aims to instill five core values in NAIA athletes, coaches: respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship. Our Lady of the Lake University shares and supports these values and strives to promote the Champions of Character program by working with students, coaches through our Champions of Character educational program.
