AUSTIN, TEXAS (Sept. 23, 2017) – The Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) men's soccer team opened its Red River Athletic Conference's (RRAC) schedule this afternoon with a 2-1 loss to Huston-Tillotson University (HTU). The Saints move to 1-5-1 and 0-1 in conference, while HTU improves to 1-2-1 and 1-0 in conference.
The Saints are 7-8 against the Rams, but they have not lost to them since 2011.
Head Coach Shane Hurley said, "We were the better team through much of regulation but failed to do enough to finish them. In the later parts of regulation and overtime, we ran out of legs."

In the first half, the Saints had four shots and the Rams had two. HTU scored first, and Roger Rizzi scored the equalizer. In the second half, both teams had five shots each, and in the overtime period, the Rams took three shots, including the game-winning goal.

The Saints racked up a total of nine shots in the match, and five of those were on frame. The Rams totaled 10 shots, and five of those were on goal.
OLLU's Jorge Cavazos (JR/McAllen, Texas) played all three periods of the match and recorded three saves. His counterpart Artmeo Roman also played all three periods, recording two saves.
Rizzi led the Saints in shooting with four, three on goal. HTU's Jesus Herrera, Clay Kirk and Mario Fuentes each had two shots.
OLLU's Jose Pesina (FR/Hidalgo, Texas) was shown a yellow card in the 18th minute, followed by HTU's Inia Damiebibikam in the 19th minute. OLLU's Matheus Campos (JR/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) received a yellow card in the 35th minute.
Adolfo Gutierrez received a yellow in the 54th minute and Samsoni Jean Claude received one in the 55th minute. OLLU's Adam Bieker (JR/McAllen, Texas) was shown a yellow in the 57th minute, followed by HTU's Jesse Solache in the 65th minute. Rizzi received one in the 69th minute, and the last one was given to HTU as a team in the 73rd minute.
The Saints will play a conference game against Jarvis Christian College on Sept. 28.
