LIVE OAK, TEXAS (Oct. 7, 2017) – Four members of the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's cross-country team participated in the UIW Invitational this morning at the Live Oak City Park.
Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, "Today was a day we focused on getting certain people out there for purposes of fitness and to compete for spots on our travel squad for Kansas in a couple of weeks. I challenged those who raced to step up and compete and for the most part was pleased."
The Saints' top male finisher in the 8k was Miguel Segura (FR/San Antonio, Texas), who finished in 40th place out of 73 runners with a time of 29:44.4. He was followed by Tristen Robles (JR/Palmview, Texas), who recorded a time of 30:52.6. Justin Ybarra (JR/Harlingen, Texas) was next with a time of 30:58.3. Patrick Bousselot (JR/Cibolo, Texas) rounded out the four men with a time of 32:10.5.
"The men who ran today had the most to prove and though there were not great performances all around I thought Miguel ran out of his mind. He clearly took my challenge to heart and made the absolute most out of his opportunity. To be perfectly honest, he is a guy that was not necessarily supposed to contribute this year, but he has forced the issue and is proving to be someone we can trust."
The Saints will get set for the Mid-States Classic at Southwestern College in Windfield, Kan. The meet will take place on Oct. 21.
