SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 26, 2017) – Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) men's soccer won a thrilling 2-1 game over LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) in a Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) match-up. The Saints improve to 6-2-1 in conference and 8-4-2 overall, while LSUA falls to 4-4-1 in conference and 9-5-2 overall.
This Saints are 2-3-1 against the Generals dating back to 2014. Last season, the Saints tied 0-0 and lost 1-0 in the conference tournament to the Generals.

The Generals put the first goal on the board in the first half with 30 seconds left on the clock. The Saints took three shots in the first period, and the Generals also shot three, three on goal. LSUA also played aggressively, committing seven fouls to none from OLLU.
In the second half, OLLU's Luis Sanchez (JR/San Antonio, Texas) took just one minute to shoot the team's first shot in the second half, one that went high. A.J. Gonzalez (SR/Harlingen, Texas) followed with a shot that went wide, and David Hillman took two shots saved by LSUA keeper Joe Bowles.
Roger Rizzi (SR/Chapeco, Brazil) continued the Saints surge with a shot that went high, and Guillermo Serrano (SO/Grand Prairie, Texas) followed with a shot on goal. Rizzi took another shot, and at the 68th minute, LSUA took its first shot of the second period that was saved by OLLU keeper Jorge Cavazos (JR/McAllen, Texas).
OLLU's David Hillman took a shot that went wide, and a shot from Petribu also went wide for LSUA. With less than 40 seconds remaining on the board, Hillman scored to give the Saints the 2-1 win.

The Saints racked up a total of 13 shots, seven of those were on frame. David Hillman and Guillermo Serrano led the team with four shots, three on goal. LSUA took five shots, four on goal. They were led by Luiz Petribu, who had two shots.
Jorge Cavazos played the entire game and allowed one goal, while saving three. His counterpart Joe Bowles had five saves and allowed two goals.
There were a total of 22 fouls, 10 by OLLU and 12 by LSUA.
OLLU's Luis Sanchez was shown a yellow card in the 39th minute. Luiz Petribu received one in the 86th minute.
The Saints will play their final game of the regular season on Saturday against LSU-Shreveport. After the women's game, the Saints will honor seniors A.J.Gonzalez, Roger Rizzi and Luis Sanchez. The Saints will discover their ranking in the conference tournament and will get set to compete in early November in Texarkana.
