SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 20, 2018) – Fueled by five players with double digits scoring, the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team stomped LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) 99-85. The win moves the NAIA's No. 15-ranked Saints to 14-7 overall and 8-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference, while the Generals drop to 4-8 overall and 4-5 in conference.
The Saints are 7-0 against the Generals.
The Saints dominated from the start of the game. Quintianna LeShore (SR/Indianapolis, Ind.) gave the Saints a six-point lead at the six-minute mark, and Destinee King (JR/Antelope, Calif.) pushed the team to lead by eight. LeShore made one of two free throws to take the team's biggest lead of the quarter at 15-6. The Generals sparked some energy to end the quarter trailing by three at 20-23.
The Saints continued to have the advantage in the second quarter, while the Generals kept the game to single digits, until a field goal from Kasey Saldana (SO/San Antonio, Texas) pushed the Saints to 43-32. A 3-pointer from Saldana followed, and Brianna Henson (JR/Dunlap, Ill.) made a basket to end the half, giving the Saints the 48-34 lead.
LeShore gave the Saints their first 20-plus lead to begin the third quarter. The Saints pushed ahead to a game-high 27-point lead. LSUA's Katie Lemieux made a basket to close out the third period, and the Saints led 81-58.
At the six minute mark of the final period, the Generals chipped away at the Saints' lead to get to within 17, but the Saints kept up the pace to finish out the game with the 99-85 win.
LeShore led the Saints in scoring with 19 points. She went 8-for-18 from the field, 1-of-3 from 3-point range and 2-of-3 from the charity stripe. Francesca Patrick (SR/Killeen, Texas) scored 16, Saldana had 12, Lena Wilson (SO/Converse, Texas) added 11 and King followed with 10.
Katie Lemieux scored 26 points for the Generals, while Tamia Hewitt added 20 and Madison Smith, 10.
Rachel Baity (SR/San Jose, Calif.) led the Saints in rebounding with seven. Hewitt added 11 for the Generals.
Julia Rendon (SR/San Antonio, Texas) had five assists for the Saints, while Saldana and LeShore added four. Wilson finished with three steals. Jena Mabile recorded five assists for the Generals, and Lemieux finished with five steals.

OLLU combined for 38-of-75 shooting for 50.67 percent, 9-of-23 from beyond the arc for 39.13 percent, and 14-of-22 from the charity stripe for 63.64 percent. LSUA was 35-of-72 for 48.61 percent, 6-of-13 in 3-point attempts for 46.15 percent, and 9-of-18 free throws for 50.00 percent.
OLLU collected 34 total rebounds, while LSUA tallied 42. OLLU forced 17 turnovers and committed 19.
The Saints will host the University of St. Thomas next on Jan. 26.
