SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 27, 2018) – Julia Rendon (SR/San Antonio, Texas)'s 1,000th career point highlighted the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team's win over Texas College. The 95-60 victory moves the Saints to 16-6 overall and 10-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference, while the Steers drop to 2-9 overall and 3-19 in conference.
The Saints are 16-2 against the Steers. Their only losses came in 2010 and 2011.
The Saints came in to Saturday's game as the leader in scoring in the entire NAIA, and their power was in full display. By the three-minute mark, they commanded an 11-point lead at 21-10. A 3-pointer from Alexis Oaks (SO/College Station, Texas) ended the first quarter, giving the Saints the 34-18 advantage.
Destinee King (JR/Antelope, Calif.) gave the Saints their first 20-plus lead after four minutes into the second quarter. The Saints kept powering through to close out the half with the 55-31 lead. Quintianna LeShore (SR/Indianapolis, Ind.) led the Saints' offense, with 11 points. The Steers' leader Linet Juma showcased her talents, leading all players with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Francesca Patrick (SR/Killeen, Texas) made two free throws giving the Saints their first 30-plus lead of the game at the four-minute mark of the third quarter. Brianna Henson (JR/Dunlap, Ill.) closed out the period with a pair of free throws to give the Saints the 76-41 lead. King took over as the leading scorer for the Saints with 14 points, and she added eight rebounds.
The Saints got very close to a 40-plus lead in the final period, coming in at 95-46. Juma's free throws were the last plays of the game as the Saints recorded the 95-60 win.
King recorded her sixth double-double of the season, leading the Saints with 19 points and 11 rebounds. She went 8-for-12 from the field and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe. LeShore and Rendon each scored 15 points, with Rendon ending the game with exactly 1,000th career points. She is the sixth woman to join the Saints 1,000 Point Club. Patrick added 12 points and Lena Wilson (SO/Converse, Texas) scored 10.
Juma finished with 32 points for Texas College.
Juma also led her team in rebounding with 13.
Regina Sheffield (JR/Menifee, Calif.) had six assists, while King and Patrick added four steals for the Saints. Paris Townsend finished with two assists and two steals for the Steers.

OLLU combined for 32-of-65 shooting for 49.23 percent, 10-of-19 from beyond the arc for 52.63 percent, and 21-of-31 from the charity stripe for 67.74 percent. Texas College was 18-of-43 for 41.86 percent, 2-of-6 in 3-point attempts for 33.33 percent, and 22-of-32 free throws for 68.75 percent.
OLLU collected 31 total rebounds, while Texas tallied 35. OLLU forced 31 turnovers and committed 12.
The Saints will play next in Marshall, Texas, against Wiley College on Feb. 2.
