SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 14, 2018) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team recorded a historic win this evening against Huston-Tillotson University (HTU). The Saints' 108-69 win over the Rams featured the highest scoring first quarter in Saints history. The Saints led 38-31, breaking the previous record for most points scored by the Saints – 34 against Paul Quinn in 2015. The Rams' 31 points is the most scored by an opponent in the first quarter. Plus, the 65 points by OLLU at the half is a new record, breaking the previous one from 2016 of 61 points against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
The Saints improve to 20-7 overall and 15-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC), while HTU drops to 11-11 overall and 11-5 in conference.
The Saints are 21-1 against the Rams. Earlier this season, the Saints defeated HTU 79-74.
The Saints got fouled right away, and Destinee King (JR/Antelope, Calif.) made one of two free throws to give the Saints the first lead of the game. The score stayed close until the seventh minute, when HTU took over the lead. They went up by four, before Quintianna LeShore (SR/Indianapolis, Ind.) sank a three to get the Saints to within one. The Rams kept the momentum through the next four minutes until Lena Wilson (SO/Converse, Texas) made a shot to give the Saints their first lead since the beginning of the game at 24-23. The teams tied at 28, but Francesca Patrick (SR/Killeen, Texas) made a few shots to get the Saints to a comfortable lead. LeShore sank the last shot of the period to give the Saints the 38-31 lead.
Patrick gave the Saints their first double-digit lead to kick off the second period. Within five minutes, the Saints increased their lead to 20 at 55-35. They had a game-high 27-point lead and closed out the half with the 65-39 advantage. LeShore led the way for the Saints, scoring 16 points in the first half.
The Saints continued to dominate in the third quarter, and LeShore's three gave the Saints their first 30-plus lead at 76-46. They went on an 11-3 run to end the third quarter with the 90-51 lead.
OLLU kept their advantage in the fourth quarter, increasing their lead to 41 and closing out the game with the 108-69 win.
LeShore led the Saints with 22 points. She went 8-for-13 from the field, 3-of-6 from 3-point range and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe. Patrick added 19 points, followed by Lena Wilson with 18 and Kasey Saldana (SO/San Antonio, Texas) with 15.
Korie Pichon led HTU with 15 points, followed by Lolita Franklin with 14 and Dezarai Spencer with 10.
King led the Saints in rebounds with eight. Several players from HTU had four rebounds.
Patrick had six assists, and Wilson added four steals for the Saints. Spencer had three assists and three steals for the Rams.

OLLU combined for 39-of-59 shooting for 66.10 percent, 12-of-21 from beyond the arc for 57.14 percent, and 18-of-26 from the charity stripe for 69.23 percent. HTU was 23-of-61 for 37.70 percent, 9-of-19 in 3-point attempts for 47.37 percent, and 14-of-21 free throws for 66.67 percent.
OLLU collected 34 total rebounds, while HTU tallied 24. OLLU forced 22 turnovers and committed 19.
The Saints will play their last home game of the season on Friday, Feb. 16, against Paul Quinn College.
