SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 16, 2018) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team played its last home game of the season and defeated Paul Quinn College (PQC) 102-77. The Saints improve to 21-7 overall, while PQC drops to 19-10.
After the game, the university honored seniors Rachel Baity (SR/San Jose, Calif.), Quintianna LeShore (SR/Indianapolis, Ind.), Nakia Page (SR/Bakersfield, Calif.), Francesca Patrick (SR/Killeen, Texas) and Julia Rendon (SR/San Antonio, Texas).
Nakia Page opened the game with a 3-pointer for the Saints. Halfway into the first quarter, after being down 6-0, the Tigers came back to take the 10-9 lead. Within a few minutes, the Saints regained the lead and went up by 10 after a 3-pointer from Julia Rendon. Kasey Saldana (SO/San Antonio, Texas) sank a three to end the first period giving the Saints the 32-16 lead.
Not much changed in the second quarter as the Saints continued to dominate the Tigers. With five minutes off the clock, the Saints went up by 20 at 44-24. They kept climbing to a game-high 24-point lead, and closing out the half with the 55-36 lead. Rendon led all scorers with 18 points.
In the third period, Destinee King (JR/Antelope, Calif.) was sent to the free-throw line and both of her made shots gave the Saints a 27-point lead at 71-44. Patrick closed out the quarter with a field goal to give the Saints the 82-54 lead.
The Saints kept their 20-plus lead through the entire fourth quarter, taking a game-high 29-point lead at the two-minute mark. Paul Quinn's Destinee Medlock ended the game with a 3-pointer and the Saints took the 102-77 win.
LeShore led the Saints with 19 points. She went 8-for-13 from the field, 1-of-1 from 3-point range, and she made 2-of-8 free throws. Rendon added 18 points, followed by King with 14, Patrick with 14 and Lena Wilson (SO/Converse, Texas) with 10.
Alexis Johnson led Paul Quinn with 17 points.
King led the Saints in rebounds with 10. Te'Ana Washington led PQC with five rebounds.
Rendon had four assists and LeShore and King had three steals for the Saints. Johnson had three assists for PQC.

OLLU combined for 33-of-62 shooting for 53.20 percent, 11-of-19 from beyond the arc for 57.9 percent, and 25-of-36 from the charity stripe for 69.44 percent. PQC was 22-of-55 for 41.8 percent, 9-of-20 in 3-point attempts for 45.00 percent, and 22-of-31 free throws for 71.02 percent.
OLLU collected 32 total rebounds, while PQC tallied 33. OLLU forced 28 turnovers and committed 16.
The Saints will play their last games of the season on Feb. 23 against LSU-Shreveport and Feb. 24 against LSU-Alexandria.
