SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 22, 2018) – Francesca Patrick (SR/Killeen, Texas) of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) has been named to the 2017-2018 CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division women's basketball team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The institutions' sports information directors must be members of CoSIDA in order to nominate qualified athletes.
Patrick is the first basketball student-athlete at OLLU to earn this honor.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division basketball teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions. They are the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at their positions. No student athlete is eligible until she has completed one full calendar year at her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
As a "First-Team" winner, Patrick will advance to the national ballot for the Academic All-America award. Recipients of those awards will be announced at a later day.
Patrick is a second-year graduate student from Killeen, Texas. She is majoring in psychology, specializing in marriage and family therapy. Patrick maintains a 4.0 GPA.
This season, Patrick is the second-leading scorer for the Saints, averaging 13.8 ppg. with 372 points scored. She leads the team in steals with 52 and in free throws/attempts with 130/162. She is second in field goals/attempts with 115/242 and in assists with 66. She is fourth on the team in total rebounds with 93. Patrick has played all 27 games this season.
