GULF SHORES, ALA. (May 25, 2018) – [RESULTS] – Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's track and field's Miki Romain (SO/Round Rock, Texas) participated in the 38th Annual Women's NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship last week at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Romain became only the second woman at OLLU to qualify for nationals in outdoor track and field. She also was the first-ever female to advance to the nationals in indoor.
She led the Saints to a Red River Athletic Conference track and field championship and qualified for this year's nationals in the 100m hurdles.
"We are extremely proud of Miki. She's now a two-time national qualifier and participant, and she is helping to pave the way for where we want our program to go. She is proof that you can come to OLLU and achieve success at the highest level of our sport."
Romain placed 24th in the hurdles out of 31 participants with a time of 15.07.
"She placed higher than she was ranked in her event, and she ran one of the better times in her career. That being said, she's done that in only two years, and we are extremely excited for the future. If she continues to work as hard as she has the past couple of years I think ultimately she can be at least an NAIA All-American."
