KANSAS CITY, MO. (May 27, 2018) - The NAIA announced the list of the women's outdoor track & field student-athletes, who have been named to the 2018 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete Team last Friday. Our Lady of the Lake University's Ione Rodriguez (SR/Port Isabel, Texas) was among the honorees.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.
Rodriguez, a graduate student majoring in Marriage and Family Therapy, earned a 4.0 GPA. She was part of the track and field team in 2014, 2015 and 2016. She took 2017 off and completed her eligibility this season.
In 2016, she received Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete recognition, and all four years, she received Conference Scholar Athlete Honors.
