LOUISVILLE, KY. (June 1, 2018) — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announce the student-athletes chosen for the 2018 NFCA NAIA All-Region softball teams earlier this week. Selected from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in Region II's First-Team was Taylor Doege. Second-Team honorees were Ciera Martinez and Kristina Tiffany.All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the six NAIA regions. The NFCA NAIA All-America team will be announced online at NFCA.org on June 6.
Doege, a four-year Saint, played in 35 games for a batting average of .387. In 119 at-bats, she tallied 15 runs, 46 hits, 10 doubles, two triples, three home runs and 69 total bases for a slugging percentage of .580 and on-base percentage of .417. She had 145 putouts and 11 assists for a fielding percentage of .987. She was named to the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) All-Conference and All-Tournament teams this season.
Martinez was named RRAC Pitcher of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, and she was selected to the All-Conference First-Team. In her first season with the Saints, Martinez won 17 games and lost five. She pitched 119.0 innings for an ERA of 1.82.
Tiffany, a four-year Saint, played in all 35 games for a batting average of .440. She tallied 35 runs, 55 hits, 19 doubles, four home runs, 27 RBIs and 86 total bases for a slugging percentage of .688 and on-base percentage of .482. She had 58 putouts and 56 assists for a fielding percentage of .942. Tiffany received All-Conference First-Team honors.
