
Saints women's soccer earns United Soccer Coaches' Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, MO. (Oct. 4, 2018) - United Soccer Coaches announced today the Team Academic Award winners at the collegiate level to recognize exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2017-2018 academic year.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's SPA, then dividing by the number of players.
This is the fourth consecutive year the women's soccer team has received this award.
The Saints finished last season with a combined 3.001 GPA under Head Coach Arthur Salazar. The team had 15 student-athletes earn 3.0 and above GPAs.
Those receiving scholar athlete recognition from the Red River Athletic Conference last year who are on this year's roster or who graduated were: Cherylen Chavez (SO/Edinburg, Texas), Brooke Cousins (SR/Bulverde, Texas), Maryssa Garza (JR/Portland, Texas), Savannah Hernandez (SO/El Paso, Texas), Brandi Lugo (JR/Georgetown, Texas), Maggie Miller, Victoria Morales (SO/Brownsville, Texas), Baye Polansky (SO/Helotes, Texas), Erica Robertson (SR/San Antonio, Texas), Mako Tembo (SR/Harare, Zimbabwe), Alexa Vaglienty (SO/Houston, Texas), Yolanda Vazquez (SO/Schertz, Texas).
