SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 13, 2018) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's soccer team shut out Paul Quinn College (PQC) 5-0 to improve to 7-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference. The Tigers drop to 6-6-1 overall and 3-3 in conference.

The Saints are 3-0 against PQC, defeating the Tigers 2-1 in 2016 and 2-0 in 2017.

The basics
The game stayed scoreless through the first 23 minutes of the first period. Guillermo Serrano was finally able to find the net on a pass from Adrian Delgado at the 22nd minute. The game continued to be highly charged with three yellow cards and 11 fouls in the opening half. OLLU's Tristan Pettit closed out the half with a header on a pass from Giovanni Cardenas to give the Saints the 2-0 lead.
After five minutes into the second half, Delgado was able to find the net on a pass from Juan Martin Chica. Less than two minutes later Jose Barraza scored an unassisted goal. The final goal came at the 54th minute on a kick from Jesus Cortes on a pass from Chica.
Inside the box score
Leading the way for the Saints' offense was Delgado and Cortes, who each shot four. Chica and Charbel Elbayeh (FR/San Antonio, Texas) added three shots each. The Saints recorded 22 shots overall, with 11 on goal.
The Tigers tallied 11 shots, six on goal and were led by Jose Vazquez and Gene Dancer who both shot two.
OLLU keeper Jorge Cavazos (SR/McAllen, Texas) saved five on 73 minutes played. Keelin Garrity (FR/Katy, Texas) played about 16 minutes to close out the game.
PQC's Jesus Rangel saved six.
PQC's Michael Lopez and OLLU's Scott Couper (JR/Glasgow, Scotland) were shown a yellow card at the 27th minute. Vazquez received a yellow card at the 37th minute for arguing with the referee. The final card was given to OLLU's Nick Genthon (SR/Houston, Texas) at the 70th minute for a side tackle.
