VICTORIA, TEXAS (Nov. 2, 2018) – The Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) men's soccer team was outshot 14-6 and came up short against the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) in the first round of the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) tournament. The 2-1 loss ends the season for the Saints with an overall record of 7-8-2.
UHV improves to 11-2-1, and the Jaguars advance to the semifinals of the RRAC tournament that takes place next week on the campus of Texas A&M University – Texarkana.
Head Coach Shane Hurley commented, "It's been a difficult season managing a number of issues that have impacted performance, and today was not any different. After having the lead early and a significant amount of the possession, we were too shy about shooting and therefore did not add to our advantage as we should have in the first half. Once again, an untimely mistake turned the tide of the game, as we went to play a cross away from our goal but played into it, thus turning momentum. I thought our men ended the season playing with the proper passion, and I thank them for their efforts. We all recognize the need for improvement and change for 2019, as this season we did not meet our own expectations."

Both teams battled throughout the rest of the first half, but the Jaguars had the advantage, taking six shots, while allowing OLLU two.
The Saints defense kept the game at 1-0 through the first 20 minutes of the second half, but UHV broke away at the 64th minute to score the equalizer. Mohammed Ibrahim found the net on an assist from Sanad Jalajal.
With eight minutes left in regulation, UHV scored the game-winner at the 82nd minute. Adrian Rodriguez shot the ball into the post on an assist from Sydney Tume to give the Jaguars the 2-1 win.
