HOUSTON (Nov. 3, 2018) – Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) fell 3-1 to the University of St. Thomas (UST) in the last Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) match of the regular season. The Saints, along with UST and Wiley College are all now 9-3 in conference. Final standings for the conference tournament will be announced tonight.
Head Coach Jeremiah Tiffin said, "Give all the credit to St. Thomas. They out-prepared us and out-played us in the first two sets, Coach Burt had a great game and they executed it very well.
"We responded very well in set three, and set four was back and forth. I thought we could've executed a little better in set four, but we didn't, and they deserved to win.
"The conference tournament is going to be a tough one, and we're expecting it to be a high-level of competition. Any of the top four teams can win, and it will be a great weekend of volleyball."
The Saints have faced the Celts 30 times since 2007 and have won 18 of those matches. The last time the Saints lost to UST before today was in 2013.

Natalie Fazio (JR/Plano, Texas) stood out for the Saints after tallying 12 kills adding four errors on 49 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .163. She also added 17 digs.
In the first set, the Saints totaled 12 kills and six errors on 48 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .125. UST tallied 15 kills and 10 errors on 52 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .096.
The second set had the Saints with nine kills and 12 errors on 45 total attacks for a hitting percentage of -0.067. The Celts had 12 kills and three errors on 39 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .231.
The Saints had 11 kills and one error on 29 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .345 in the third set. UST had 10 kills and 10 errors on 35 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .000.
In the final set, the Saints had 17 kills and nine errors on 56 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .143. The Celts had 13 kills and five errors on 53 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .151.
On the offense
Overall, the Saints had 49 kills and 28 errors on 178 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .118. UST had 50 kills and 28 errors on 179 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .123.
Mariza Cardenas (SR/Brownsville, Texas) had 10 kills and three errors on 32 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .219.
Both Brooke Garcia and Bresha Orange for UST had 15 kills each.
OLLU marked 47 assists, and was led by Anissa Tamez (SO/San Antonio, Texas), who had 32. UST had 46 assists and was led by Hannah Westerlage, who had 20.
UST recorded 88 digs, 25 from Lauren Fernandez-Miller.
The Saints had four block assists and three solo blocks, led by Tijana Kruta (FR/Bar, Montenegro) and Cardenas, both of whom had two block assists. Kruta added two solos.
UST totaled 26 block assists, led by Sophie Rigaut, who had nine.
Serving it up
The Saints had two service aces and seven service errors. UST had two aces and three service errors.
The Saints will host the RRAC Tournament that takes place Nov. 9-10.
