WACO, TEXAS (Nov. 8, 2018) - The Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) announced the 2018 RRAC Women's Soccer All-Conference Team and postseason award winners as voted by the conference's head coaches.
Six from the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) have earned honors, including Dawson Brinkley, who captured the Newcomer of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year Awards, as well as First-Team All-Conference.
Receiving Second-Team honors were Brooke Cousins and Mikaela Gilbert. Named to the Honorable Mention Team were Baye Polansky and Erika Zapata.The Champions of Character recipient for OLLU was Liliana Briseno.
Brinkley led the conference in all offensive goals after starting all 17 games, she added 21 goals amd seven assists for 49 points. She took 73 shots and 40 shots on goal. She also had four penalty kicks attempted and made, and six game-winning goals.
Cousins, a four-year Saint and captain of the team, played and started in all 17 games. She had three goals and one assist while taking 39 shots, 15 on goal.
Gilbert, playing in her first season with the Saints as the starting keeper, recorded 10 wins and four losses, with 92 saves and six shutouts.
Polansky started in 16 of 17 games in her second season with the Saints. She tallied 11 goals and seven assists for 29 points. She took 38 shots, 21 on goal and had one game-winning goal.
Zapata, playing in her first year with the Saints, started in all 17 games as a defender. She took one shot, one on goal.
Briseno played in all 17 games, five as a starter. She had one assist and took 12 shots, 10 on goal.
