NORMAN, OKLA. (Jan. 28, 2019) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men;s and women's track and field teams participated in the UCO Open this past weekend. The event was sponsored by the University of Central Oklahoma at its Mosier Indoor Facility.
Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, It is always nice, particularly for our sprinters and jumpers, to get the first meet of the season in. It has been a long off-season for anyone from our group who does not compete in cross country, and I know they had this date and meet circled on their calendars for a while. That being said, it makes it that much better when the team competes well, which our athletes did just that. It was definitely a good way to start things off."

In the 200m dash, Chandler Sennette had a time of 25.13.He also took part in the long jump and tallied a 6.00m for 11th place.
Sherman commented, "I genuinely think every one of the men competed well. They made it obvious why they were the group we brought. I do, however, think that Clay and Izaiah stuck out the most. Clay had a monster day for himself, and Izaiah continues to run on a level beyond any reasonable expectation."
On the women's side, Miki Romain placed third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.20. She ran the 60m dash with a time of 8.31 for 12th place.
Amanda Esparza ran the 400m dash with a time of 1:02.25 for seventh place. She ran the 200m dash in 27.44 for 12th place. Aundrea Culliver also ran the 200m dash with a time of 27.60. Samantha Millan's time in the 200 was 28.70.

Culliver took part on the long jump and tallied a 5.07m for sixth place. Pineda recorded a 4.89m.
"Like the men, it was obvious why we chose the women that we did to compete at this meet," Sherman commented. "The women looked sharp and were among the best athletes in the meet. Of course, Miki deserves recognition for qualifying for the NAIA indoor meet in the 60m hurdles again, but she also was able to make the 60m finals at this meet too."
