SAN ANTONIO (April 9, 2019) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) baseball team avenged a 4-5 loss last month to NCAA D3 Trinity University with a spectacular 14-3 win last night. The Saints improve to 21-21, while Trinity, the No. 4-ranked team in NCAA D3, moves to 23-8.
Head Coach Bryan Aughney commented, "It was great to get back to feeling confident about ourselves and back in the win column. Our intent was great and we played with an expectation to win. We did a good job of setting the tone with good pitching, defense and base running early in the game that put us in a good position.
"It was important for us to gain some confidence heading into the final stretch of conference play and for our road series this weekend."
The Saints are 3-6 against powerhouse Trinity.
The game stayed scoreless through the third inning when Daniel Anciso (SR/Harlingen, Texas) reached first on an error by the Tigers third baseman.
