SAN ANTONIO (April 12-133, 2019) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's track and field team participated in two events this weekend. The Saints took part in the UIW Invitational in San Antonio and the New Mexico JC Ross Black Open in Hobbs, N.M.
Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, "We had a busy weekend with a bit of a split squad situation courtesy of the Red River Athletic Conference, but despite that I thought the athletes more or less handled themselves well and crossed the things off of our list that we needed to cross off. That being said, we still did not compete well enough across the roster to expect to win the RRAC meet, and Coach Terry Smith and I will be working with our group to rectify that over the next couple of days."
Sherman said, "We had a lot of nice things happen at this meet, but some mediocrity crept in too. We need to put together a meet where everyone is firing on all cylinders and competing at the highest level possible, and we need it to happen on Thursday and Friday [conference meet] of this next week."

Sherman commented, "New Mexico went much better than it could have. The circumstances were not ideal, but I thought the group we took handled themselves with pride and integrity. That being said, as all of our 10k runners know, their times will have to be much faster this coming week to have the overall result we will need. To be sure that was not our best shot at the 10k. It simply was what it was no more and no less."
