SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 30, 2019) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's soccer team defeated Southwestern Christian University 3-2 to improve to 2-0 this season.
The Saints scored three goals in the second half to erase a 2-0 deficit. Keelin Garrity (SO/Katy, Texas) picked up his second win of the season with three saves. Samuel Villegas (FR/San Antonio, Texas) scored his first goal as a member of the Saints on an assist from Charbel Elbayeh (SO/San Antonio, Texas). Elbayeh scored just 11 minutes later to tie the game 2-2. He finished with a goal and an assist. Norberto Lira (SO/San Antonio, Texas) scored less than a minute after Elbayeh, which would prove to be the deciding goal. Both teams suffered two yellow cards, with all but one being for unsportsmanlike conducts.
Assistant Coach Marcelo Chapa commented, "I think the boys worked hard from the first minute. The focus was for us to go out and compete and then bring some different players into the game. When we were down 2-0 it really kind of turned us on, and we took it to them."

Leading the way for the Saints' offense were Lira and Bernard Alvarenga (JR/Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil), with two shots. Five different players for SCU led the team with one shot each.
Overall, the Saints tallied 14 shots, nine on goal. The Eagles recorded 10 shots, five on goal.
OLLU keeper Garrity tallied three saves and played the duration of the game.
SCU's Jose Martin Martinez was shown a yellow card at the 40th minute for a rough tackle.
SCU's Juan Anselmi was shown a yellow card at the 67th minute for foul language.
OLLU was shown a team yellow card for excessive celebration at the 78th minute.
OLLU's Garrity was shown a yellow card for kicking the ball at the 80th minute.
Men's soccer will play at home against St. Mary's University on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m.
