SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 10, 2019) – After a convincing first set 25-16 win by the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) volleyball team over Texas Lutheran University (TLU), the Bulldogs came back to even the score. They won 25-22. The Saints fought back to secure the third set 25-23, and they hoped to have an easier time with the fourth set, but the Bulldogs had no intentions of giving up easily. The game remained close with neither team taking more than a five-point lead. The teams tied 13 times in the set, five times by OLLU and eight by TLU. The Bulldogs reach set point at 24-23 but kills from Natalie Fazio (SR/Plano, Texas) and Tijana Kruta (SO/Bar, Montenegro) gave the Saints the advantage at 25-24. The Bulldogs tied the score at 25, and a service error by TLU gave the Saints match point at 26-25. Again, the Bulldogs tied at 26 and 27. A service ace from Kruta and a kill from Anyssa Rivera (SR/El Paso, Texas) sealed the win for OLLU 29-27 in front of a packed and enthusiastic home crowd in Mabee Gymnasium.
The Saints are now 7-1 on the season - the best overall record in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). TLU, an NCAA D3 school, moves to 4-5 overall.
This is the fourth matchup against TLU. The Saints have won the last two meetings in 2015 and 2018. OLLU lost in four sets to the Bulldogs in 2014.

Fazio had 11 kills and 33 total attacks. Rivera also had 11 kills and 22 assists. Bailei Hubbard (JR/Helotes, Texas)'s two solo blocks took her to the top of the Saints record book for career solo blocks at 47.

Leading the way for the Saints were Fazio and Rivera with 11 kills. Hubbard followed with nine kills.
TLU's Peyton Sulak and Katelyn Sexton recorded six kills.
Pushed to the brink
The Saints were forced to score 29 points in the fourth set to secure the victory. OLLU had a match-high 17 kills in the fourth set.
OLLU had a total of 67 digs, led by Alyssa Marquez (SO/Albuquerque, N.M.) with 21. Texas Lutheran had 65 total digs, led by Lexi Morris and Jaci Chambers with 14 each.
Serving it up
The Saints had nine service aces, including three from Fazio.
The Saints open their Red River Athletic Conference schedule against Huston-Tillotson University on Friday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m in Mabee Gymnasium.
