WINDCREST, TEXAS (Sept. 19, 2019) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's and women's cross-country teams will host their Third Annual Saints Collegiate Cross-Country Invite on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Windcrest Golf Club in Windcrest, Texas.
The men will run first at 8 a.m., and the women will follow at 8:45 a.m.
Head Coach Stephen Sherman commented, "We are looking forward to hosting this meet again this year. This year's version is the biggest in terms of total entries that we have ever had. I hope that the greater OLLU community will come out and cheer us on!"
In 2017, the Saints men were runners-up in the meet, while the women were champs. Last season, the men finished in second place, while the women were third-place finishers.
Top individual male finishes for the Saints in 2017 were Nathaniel Aguilar, who placed third, and Andrew Moczygemba (SR/San Antonio, Texas), who finished in sixth. Last year, Derek Barnett finished in second place, while Jose Zarate (SO/San Antonio, Texas) placed sixth.
For the women in 2017, Jazmine Garcia was third, followed by Alyssa Hebb in fourth, Andrea Gandara (SR/Kaufman, Texas) in fifth, Sarah Taylor in sixth and Ione Rodriguez in eighth. Annie Trejo was the top finisher for the Saints in 2018 at fifth place. Sabrina Garcia (SO/Brownsville, Texas) came in 10th place.
Participating schools for both men's and women's races are El Paso Community College, University of the Incarnate Word, McMurry University, North Central Texas College, OLLU, Schreiner University, Southwestern University, Sul Ross State University, Texas A&M University – Kingsville, Texas A&M University – International, Texas College, Texas Lutheran University, Texas Wesleyan University and Trinity University.
T-Shirts for the top 10 male finishers and top 10 female finishers will be presented. In addition, plaques for each winning team will be given out.
