WACO, TEXAS (O t. 9, 2019) – Dawson Brinkley of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) was recognized as the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 30-Oct. 6, while OLLU's Erika Zapata earned the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week award for the same dates. This is the seventh set of conference awards for the 2019 women's soccer season.
Brinkley compiled 11 points in a 2-0 week for the Saints. The sophomore midfielder accounted for a pair of goals in an 8-0 win over Jarvis Christian College before achieving a hat trick with three goals and an assist to overwhelm Texas College, 11-0. Brinkley, a native of San Antonio, moved up to second in the RRAC in goals (8) and fourth in points (18). OLLU stayed unbeaten at 4-0 in conference play with a record of 7-2-1 on the season.
Zapata led the Saints to both shutout victories. The sophomore defender from Baytown, Texas, anchors a wall that has delivered six consecutive shutouts. OLLU leads the RRAC with only five goals allowed in 10 matches.
