SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 17, 2019) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's soccer team defeated LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) 2-0 on Thursday. The Saints improve to 8-4-1 on the season and 5-2 in Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) play. The Generals drop to 10-4 overall and 4-2 in conference.
Head Coach Arthur Salazar commented on the win saying, "I thought it was a good response from a rough week last week. I thought the girls came out with more passion and emphasis in various areas of the field that we were lacking last week."
The Saints started the momentum early with Baye Polansky (JR/Helotes, Texas) (JR/Helotes, Texas) scoring a goal at the sixth minute. She also assisted on Dawson Brinkley (SO/San Antonio, Texas) (SO/San Antonio, Texas)'s goal, which came in the 32nd minute. Jaylin Seto (SO/Houston, Texas) (SO/Houston, Texas) also assisted with Brinkley's goal. Brinkley leads the Saints with eight goals this season. Mikaela Gilbert (JR/San Antonio, Texas) (JR/San Antonio, Texas) saved five shots in 54 minutes of play before being replaced by Savannah Hernandez (JR/El Paso, Texas) (JR/El Paso, Texas). With the win, the Saints break their two-loss streak and are ranked fourth in the RRAC.

Overall, the Saints tallied 12 shots, nine on goal. The Generals recorded 12 shots, six on goal.
OLLU starting keeper Gilbert played 54 minutes and made five saves. Hernandez replaced Gilbert and played 37 minutes in net, making one save.
The Saints will celebrate Seniors' Day on Saturday, Oct. 19, as they host LSU-Shreveport at noon.
