SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 19, 2019) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's soccer team took down LSU-Shreveport (LSUS) 2-0 on Saturday. The Saints improve to 9-4-1 on the season and 6-2 in Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) play. The Pilots fall to 6-8 overall and 5-2 against RRAC opponents. The Saints are currently in first place in the RRAC with one match remaining this season. They will wait on the result of the University of the Southwest vs Texas A&M-Texarkana game to determine where they stand at the end of the weekend.
The Saints scored both goals in the latter part of the first half. Maryssa Garza (SR/Portland, Texas) scored at the 35th minute, a special goal due to her being celebrated on seniors' day. She also led the Saints in shots with four and shots on goal with three. Andrea Villarreal (FR/Cypress, Texas) scored seven minutes later at the 42nd minute with an assist from Sarah Miles (FR/Helotes, Texas).
OLLU dominated the Pilots for most of the match by controlling the ball and pressuring LSUS's defense. The Saints outshot the Pilots 30 to three. The Saints showed a balanced attack with 12 different players recording at least one shot on goal. OLLU has won two straight games without allowing a goal.

OLLU starting keeper Mikaela Gilbert (JR/San Antonio, Texas) played 45 minutes and made two saves; she earned the win. Hernandez replaced Gilbert for the start of the second half and stopped one shot.
The Saints will travel to Victoria, Texas, to take on the University of Houston – Victoria on Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. for their last match of the season.
