TEXARKANA, TEXAS (Nov. 8, 2019) -- On the eve of the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) women's soccer tournament, the conference announced the 2019 RRAC Women's Soccer All-Conference Team at a pre-event banquet.
Arthur Salazar, head coach of regular-season champion Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU), received the Coach of the Year Award.
OLLU's Dawson Brinkley (SO/San Antonio, Texas), a repeat selection, Baye Polansky (JR/Helotes, Texas) and Jaylin Seto (SO/Houston, Texas) were selected to the All-Conference First Team, while Andrea Villarreal (FR/Cypress, Texas), Maryssa Garza (SR/Portland, Texas), Erika Zapata (SO/Baytown, Texas), and Jessica Zapata (SO/Baytown, Texas) received All-Conference Second-Team honors. Madison Herrera (FR/Helotes, Texas) was named to the Honorable Mention Team, and Liliana Briseno (SO/San Antonio, Texas) was named to the Champions of Character Team.
Brinkley, the team's leader in goals (10), shots (39) and shots on goal (26) played in all 15 of the Saints games, nine as a started.
Polansky logged five goals, 32 shots, 22 shots on goal and two game-winning goals. She started in all 15 games for the Saints.
Seto also started in all 15 of the Saints games. She has four goals and six assists, as well as 23 shots, 15 on goal.
Villarreal started in 10 of the Saints 15 games and scored five goals, adding five assists. She has 28 shots and 18 shots on goal.
Garza, the team captain, started in 12 of 15 games and has 28 shots, 15 on goal. She has scored three goals and logged one assist.
Briseno played in 15 games for the Saints. She took six shots, two on goal.
This is Salazar's third Coach of the Year award. He won in 2013 and 2016. His overall record as the Saints' coach is 88-37-6.
