SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 11, 2020) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team beat LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) 116-93 on Saturday. No. 16-ranked OLLU improves to 13-5 overall and 5-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). LSU-Alexandria falls to 8-5 overall and 5-1 in conference.
This is the 11th matchup against LSU-Alexandria. The Saints lead the series 9-1 with their only loss coming in the previous matchup.
The first quarter was evenly played with the Saints leading by one heading into the second quarter. OLLU forced seven turnovers and Lena Wilson (SR/Converse, Texas) tallied nine points. The Generals shot 62.5 percent from the field. Late in the second quarter the Saints found their stride and headed to the locker room up 53-47. At halftime the Saints had 26 rebounds and Zerina Shatri (JR/Prishtine, Kosovo) grabbed seven rebounds.
The Saints carried their momentum into the third quarter and led by 14 points midway through the frame. Shatri reached double-digit rebounds with 10 and Wilson and Dezeree White (SO/Houston, Texas) had 18 points each. OLLU piled on the points in the fourth quarter and won 116-93, their highest point total in a game since Dec. 12. Five players finished with double-digit points for the Saints and Shatri finished with a season-high 14 rebounds. OLLU shot over 50 percent from both the field and the three-point line.
Wilson led the Saints in scoring with 26 points. Jamia Miller (SR/Odessa, Texas) tallied 22 points and White followed with 20. Shatri grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds. White led the Saints with six assists.
LSU-Alexandria was led by with Kelsey Thaxton with 27 points. Kendriana Washington led the team with nine rebounds. Courtney Dawsey led the Generals with six assists.

OLLU combined for 44-of-85 shooting for 51.8 percent, 13-of-24 from three-point range for 54.2 percent and 15-of-22 from the free-throw line for 68.2 percent. LSU-Alexandria shot 36-of-73 for 49.3 percent, 8-of-19 three pointers for 42.1 percent and 13-of-19 from the free-throw line for 68.4 percent.
The Saints grabbed 47 rebounds while the Generals collected 36. OLLU forced 22 turnovers and committed 14.
The Saints travel to Texarkana, Texas, to face Texas A&M University-Texarkana on Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
