
NORMAN, OKLA. (Jan. 23, 2020) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's track and field team participated in their first indoor event of the season at the UCO Invitational. The event took place at the Mosier Indoor Facility on Jan. 18.
Head Coach Stephen Sherman commented, "This meet was definitely one of our more complete efforts ever, and it certainly was the most complete opening effort we have ever had. To say the least, I was very proud of the athletes for how they competed. The key will now be to not take too much from this meet one way or the other. We will need to continue to progress and compete especially as our competition gets tougher."
In the 60m preliminaries, Aundrea Culliver (SR/Round Top, Texas) finished 10th with a time of 8.18. Destiny Joseph (JR/Houston, Texas) placed 25th at 8.45 and Miki Romain (SR/Round Rock, Texas) (SR/Austin, Texas) followed in 26th with the same time of 8.45.
Joseph also competed in the 200m and finished with a time of 28.16 for 16th place.
Amanda Esparza (JR/San Antonio, Texas) placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 1:04.09. Brianna Pantoja (FR/San Antonio, Texas) took eighth with a time of 1:05.07 and Audren Pineda (SO/Brownsville, Texas) followed in ninth at 1:05.22.
Natalie Martinez (FR/San Antonio, Texas) ran in the 800m and finished 12th with a time of 2:33.87. Robbie Espericueta took 2st with a time of 2:43.72.
Lindsey Broussard (FR/Kingwood, Texas) participated in the 5000m and placed in seventh at 21:06.15.
Lauren Perry (FR/DeSoto, Texas) finished second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.26. Romain followed close behind for fourth place with a time of 9.51.
The team ran in the 4x400 relay and finished in fourth place with a time of 4:16. Pineda, Esparza, Perry and Culliver competed in the event.
Pineda competed in the long jump and placed fifth with a mark of 4.93m.
Culliver took part in the triple jump for the Saints and placed fourth with a mark of 10.79m.
The Saints will participate in the FasTrack Collegiate Invitational in Houston starting on Jan. 24.
