HOUSTON (Jan. 25, 2020) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's track and field team participated in the Fas-Trak Collegiate Invitational at the University of Houston last Saturday.
The women's one-mile relay broke an OLLU record, and Aundrea Culliver (SR/Round Top, Texas) also broke an OLLU record in the triple jump.
Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, "This meet was definitely a step up in competition. I thought our group handled themselves nicely. We seem to have crossed a major threshold in that we competed primarily against quality division I and II competition and our men and women didn't blink. I'm not sure I've ever been able to say that before now."
Destiny Joseph (JR/Houston, Texas) ran the 60 meters with a time of 8.30. Amanda Esparza (JR/San Antonio, Texas) finished the 200 meters with a time of 27.34. Brianna Pantoja (FR/San Antonio, Texas) followed at 27.77, and Joseph at 28.04. In the 400 meters, Pantoja had a time of 1:03.98.
Natalie Martinez (FR/San Antonio, Texas) finished in ninth place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.35 for an OLLU record. Lauren Perry (FR/DeSoto, Texas) came in seventh place in the 20-meter hurdles with a time of 9:18. Miki Romain (SR/Round Rock, Texas) (SR/Austin, Texas) had a time of 9:22.
