HOUSTON (Jan. 25, 2020) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's track and field team participated in the FasTrak Collegiate Invitational at the University of Houston last Saturday.
Johnny Samudio (FR/San Antonio, Texas) broke an OLLU record in the 400 meters.
Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, "This meet was definitely a step up in competition. I thought our group handled themselves nicely. We seem to have crossed a major threshold in that we competed primarily against quality division I and II competition and our men and women didn't blink. I'm not sure I've ever been able to say that before now."
Paul Williams (FR/Houston, Texas) ran the 50 meters in 7.14, while Pablo Cavazos (SR/Pharr, Texas) tallied a 7:45 time. In the 200 meters, Johnny Samudio ran with a time of 23.15, while Williams' time was 23.52 and Clayton Townsend (SR/Schertz, Texas)'s time was 24.50. In the 400 meters, Samudio recorded a time of 50.62 for 13th place and an OLLU record.
Townsend recorded a 9.11 in the 60-meter hurdles,
The Saints will run their next indoor event on Feb. 21 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
