


SHREVEPORT, LA. (Feb. 14, 2020) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's basketball team fell to No. 6-ranked LSU-Shreveport (LSUS) 120-83 yesterday. The Saints drop to 8-16 overall and 4-10 in the RRAC. LSUS improves to 22-3 overall and 12-2 in conference.
Head Coach Chris Dial said, "I was proud of the way we competed with an extremely talented team for most of the game. We will have another tough opponent on Saturday after a short turn around. We need to recollect and prepare for success in Alexandria."
History
This is the 23rd meeting between the two teams, and the Pilots lead the series 12-10.
Basics
The Saints matched the Pilots offense in the first half. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field and only turned the ball over five times each. Michael Saladin (SR/Beaumont, Texas) had 12 points at the half and there were seven lead changes. The Saints headed into the locker room down by seven.
The Pilots explosive offense was too much for the Saints to handle in the second half. LSUS shot 60 percent from the field and limited the Saints to 38.4 percent. The Saints lost 120-83 and have dropped three straight conference games.
Offensive/defensive standouts
Saladin led the team with 19 points, followed by Darin Minniefield (JR/Houston, Texas) with 15. Three players led the Saints with five rebounds each. Minniefield had a team high four assists.
LSUS was led by Tra'Quan Knight with 26 points. Gilbert Thomas led the team with 12 rebounds and added 14 points for a double-double. Knight contributed a team high five assists.
Inside the box
The Saints grabbed 35 rebounds while the Pilots collected 51. OLLU forced 10 turnovers and committed seven.
