SAN ANTONIO (March 1, 2020) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's basketball team beat Huston-Tillotson University (HTU) 86-81 to conclude the season yesterday. The Saints finish 10-18 overall and 6-12 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Rams drop to 9-18 overall and 8-10 in conference.
The Saints are 18-3 against Huston-Tillotson and won the previous matchup this season 84-80.
There were eight lead changes in the first half. The Saints fell behind by 13 points halfway through the first half. OLLU stormed back and led by four points at halftime. The Saints shot an impressive 51.5 percent from the field and Michael Saladin (SR/Beaumont, Texas) had 12 points.
After the first half the Saints never trailed. The Rams only trailed by one point with 1:36 left in the game. The Saints stiff defense came up big after the Saints failed to hit free throws. Saladin buried two free throws with under 10 seconds left and the Saints won 86-81.
Saladin led the Saints with 21 points, followed by Marlon Williams (JR/Jacksonville, Fla.) with 14. Ruben Monzon (SO/San Diego, Calif.) tallied a team-high nine rebounds. Darin Minniefield (JR/Houston, Texas) led the Saints with five assists.
Aloysius James led the Rams with 28 points. James Jenkins led the team with 16 rebounds and scored 14 points for a double-double. Jenkins tallied a team-high three assists.

OLLU combined for 31-of-60 shooting for 51.7 percent, 6-of-14 from three-point range for 42.9 percent and 18-of-25 from the free-throw line for 72 percent. Huston-Tillotson shot 26-of-65 for 40 percent, 8-of-19 three pointers for 42.1 percent and 21-of-26 from the free-throw line for 80.8 percent.
The Saints grabbed 33 rebounds while the Rams collected 42. OLLU forced 17 turnovers and committed 13.
