SPECIAL FEATURE ON SENIORS (March 19, 2020) – Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) senior Miki Romain had a fantastic indoor track and field season with a third trip to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, where she set personal records. "It came down to just one more chance for Miki to qualify," Sherman commented. "And she handled it with the composure of a senior and multi-time national qualifier. Her race was a textbook display of composure, desire and technique. Obviously, we are very proud of her."
Romain addressed the sudden end to the season saying, "One thing I can say is that every athlete should treat each time they step on the track as if it were their last. Shout out to my amazing teammates and coaches who worked hard every single day and kept the positivity going even when it felt impossible. I want to thank the trainers, Corey Beechner and Alyssa Guerra for keeping my legs from falling off and to all the OLLU athletes for sticking together and facing this adversity!"
Romain's awards and accomplishments include 2016-2017 RRAC Scholar-Athlete, 2017 NAIA National Meet Indoor Qualifier, All-Conference in 100mH, 400mH, 4x100mR, First and Second in Top Track Performance in Discus, First, Second and Third in 4x100mR (Leg 3); 2018 NAIA National Meet Outdoor Qualifier, Conference Championship, NAIA Scholar Team, All-Conference in 100mH, 400mH, 4x100mR, Long Jump, Discus, RRAC Scholar-Athlete and 2019 NAIA National Meet Indoor.
