SPECIAL FEATURE ON SENIORS (March 20, 2020) – Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) senior Jose Lima (SR/Cibolo, Texas) is looking forward to another year of eligibility and a chance to continue his success at OLLU.
The Cibolo, Texas, native has consistently performed well at track and field events in his four years as a Saint. He competed in the Trinity Invitational on March 9 before the 2019-2020 season was cut short. Lima placed 33rd in the 200m and 11th in the 4x400m relay.
He was named to the 4x400mR and 4x800mR All-Conference team in 2017 and 2018. Lima ended the 2018-2019 track and field regular season with an impressive finish at the UIW Invitational. He took eighth place in the 200m, fourth place in the 400m and second in the 4x100m relay. In the 2019 conference meet, he took 14th place in the 400m.
Lima addressed the season ending short by saying, "I thought this would've been the best season that we would have had during my time here at OLLU. The team was geared and ready to win that elusive Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) championship! All we can do now is keep the mentality and train for the next year since our eligibility has been reinstated!"
Lima's hobbies include running, playing video games, reading and anime. His athletic role model is Kenyan track and field athlete David Rudisha.
