SAN ANTONIO (April 22, 2020) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) volleyball program has released its match schedule for the fall featuring seven Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) home matches and a nine-match home tournament in August.
Second-year Head Coach Scott Mattera is looking forward to the season, "There is so much to be excited for in our 2020 schedule. We feel we have been able to balance out many of the factors that go into a schedule that provides a great student-athlete experience including; high-level competition, quality home dates, meaningful travel and even some off weekends. This schedule should provide so many great opportunities to gauge where we are in terms of national relevance and prepare us for a championship run!"

After a home scrimmage against Coastal Bend College on Aug. 15, the team will begin the regular season competing in the Dallas Quad at Paul Quinn College (PC) in Dallas. The Saints will face Langston University (LU) (10-0) and Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) (first match) on Aug. 22.
The Saints will play their first home matches of 2020 as they host the Alamo City Extravaganza (ACE) Aug. 28-29. A neutral match will kick off ACE between Embry-Riddle University-Arizona (ERU) and Johnson & Wales University-Florida (JWU) at 9 a.m. Baker University (BU) faces Huston-Tillotson University (HTU) at 11:30 a.m. The Saints will then hit the court against JWU at 2 p.m. and HTU and ERU will be next at 4:30 p.m. The Saints vs. BU (0-1) will close out the first day at 7 p.m. HTU vs. JWU (first match) will start Saturday's schedule at 10 a.m., followed by BU vs. ERU at 12 p.m. BU will play JWU at 3 p.m., and the Saints will close out ACE at 5 p.m. against ERU (2-0).
The Saints will travel to compete in the Xavier New Orleans Tournament Sept. 4-5. They will return home on Sept. 11 for the first RRAC match of the season against PQC (3-0). PQC played one season in 2008 and then returned to competing in volleyball in 2019. OLLU welcomes Bellevue University (BU) (0-1) on the same day and plays Texas College (TC) (23-0) the following day.
Following the first few conference matches of the season, the Saints hit the road to face Jarvis Christian College (JCC) (15-0) on Sept. 18 and Wiley College (WC) (12-11) on Sept. 19. The Saints return home briefly for a match against NCAA D3 Texas Lutheran University (TLU) (3-1) on Sept. 22 before leaving for Austin, Texas, to play conference rival HTU (24-3) on Sept. 25.
OLLU will continue the road trip and play Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) (0-3) on Sept. 29. The Saints will return home a few days later to take on the University of the Southwest (USW) (15-4) on Oct. 3. On Oct. 7 the Saints will play nonconference foe Schreiner University (SU) (14-3) and will then have an extended break before playing at PQC on Oct. 16.
The Saints finish the season series with TC on Oct. 17 on the road. They will then face TLU again, this time in Seguin, Texas, on Oct. 21. HTU comes to San Antonio on Oct. 23 for a home game. OLLU faces SU again on Oct. 28 and then returns home to play JCC and WC on Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.
The last match of the season will be in Hobbs, N.M., against USW on Nov. 7. The RRAC Tournament will be held from Nov. 13-14 and the first round of the NAIA Nationals will take place on Nov. 21. The NAIA National Championship Tournament will be from Dec. 1-5, in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Saints excelled on the court last season and finished 19-7 overall and 8-4 in conference play. They fell to HTU in the final of the RRAC Tournament during a five-set thriller. OLLU captured the regular season and tournament titles in 2015, 2016, 2017 and were co-champions of the regular season in 2018.
