SAN ANTONIO (July 1, 2020) – Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) held its inaugural competitive cheer and dance team signing day earlier this month.
Head Coach Crystal Brock commented, "We had 13 athletes sign on June 13 at our signing day committing to our OLLU Saints Spirit Family. Each student-athlete is eager to begin working on creating a legacy of which OLLU faculty, staff and alumni will be proud. Each athlete has a passion to motivate and represent Saints athletics with dignity, class and sportsmanship."
Among the 13 who signed was Jaelyn Garza (SO/Runge, Texas) from Runge, Texas. The sophomore will join the Competitive Dance team and attended Karnes City High School. Garza received the Karnes City Columbus Club Scholarship and Band Booster Club Scholarship while at Karnes City High School. She also received the Directors Award for Leadership and was a three-time consecutive twirling medalist and finalist for regional and state UIL competition, among other accomplishments.
While at OLLU, Garza was one of the first members of the Multicultural Alliance for Peace in Society Club Organization (MAPS) and held the officer and public relations manager positions. She is a part of the National Honor Society and received the OLLU Academic Scholarship.
