HOUSTON (Nov. 20, 2010) -- Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) men's basketball team faced the University of St. Thomas (UST) on Saturday afternoon in Houston, and despite two previous hard-fought matches, this time, the Saints beat the Celts 99-80 to improve their record to 2-1, while the Celts drop to 2-4.
Junior guard
Ricardo Zanini sank 8 of 17 field goals, including 7 of 13 3-pointers, as well as two free throws to lead both teams in scoring with 25. Sophomore guard
Dionelle Rucker finished with his second double-double of the season contributing 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard
Robert Martinez had 12 points. Lead scored for the Celts was Jeremy Lewis, who ended with 24.
The Saints made 31 of 68 field goals (0.456), 14 of 29 3-pointers (0.482) and 23 of 35 free throws (0.657).
The Saints played the Celts during their inaugural season in 2009 in their first-ever game. The Saints won in overtime 107-103. The two teams met up again, this time in Houston, and the Celts won 50-44. UST is a member of the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) of the NAIA.
