OLLU women's basketball wins first conference game of season, 91-58 vs. Jarvis Christian

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 29, 2010) -- The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team dominated Jarvis Christian College in its first conference game of the season last Saturday afternoon with a 91-58 win.
It was the first time the Saints beat the Lady Bulldogs in two previous matchups in the regular 2009-2010 season; the Saints reached the semifinals of the Red River Athletic Conference playoffs after a win against Jarvis during the post-season.
The win improves the Saints record to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in conference.
The two teams were evenly matched on stats during the first half. The Saints shot a little more than 48% from the field compared to 47% for the Lady Bulldogs. Neither team made a 3-pointer, with the Saints going 0-for-3 and the Lady Bulldogs, 0-for-6. From the free-throw line the Saints made eight of 13, while the Lady Bulldogs sank 13 of 18. The two teams went into the locker room with the Saints leading 43-34.
OLLU shot six of 22 field goals, four of 11 3-pointers and eight of 12 free throws during the second half. Senior guard Krystal Manning was the game's high scorer with 16. Others in double digits for the Saints were Alisha Crump, 14; Morgan Smith, 11; and Jasmine Fuller, Vernessa Roberts and Ashley Hicks with 10 each. Smith, Crump and Fuller each had seven rebounds. Lead scorer for the Lady Bulldogs was Rameitha Bufort, who finished with 11.
The Saints will play at home on Monday against Texas College. During the 2009-2010 season, the Saints split a win and loss with the Steers. Texas College is 1-0 in conference and 7-0 overall.
