The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) Saints volleyball team won its third conference match easily on Oct. 2 against Texas College. The team from Tyler, arriving late after a match in Austin against Huston-Tillotson University earlier in the day, never led throughout the three-set match, losing 25-3, 25-10 and 25-10 to the Saints.
Starting for OLLU were Kelsey Johnson, Jennifer Herrera, Norma Fraga, Sarah Lindsay Jasmine Price and Desirea Aguilar.
The first score came from a fierce kill delivered by freshman Price that set the mood for the rest of the game. After a careless mistake by the Saints, the Lady Steers took over and managed to score two points before giving the ball up to the Saints again. A net violation by the Saints gave the ball back to the Lady Steers giving them their last score of the game, while the Saints scored nine straight to win the match 25-3.
Game two began similarly with the Saints scoring quickly. Kills by Eveler, Bush and Aguilar were no match for the Lady Steers. The Saints won game two 25-10.
The Saints took a demanding lead in game three with senior Valenciana serving. She gave the Saints four points. After a kill from Price, the Saints took command of the ball again adding five more points. Freshman Autumn Carruthers allowed the Saints to score six more points. Senior Valenciana took the Saints to the end of the match with a score of 25-10.
