Ramon Rodriguez of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) was selected as the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offense Player of the Week for Oct. 5-11.

Sophomore forward Rodriguez gave the Saints an early lead as he scored the first two goals in the game against Texas Wesleyan University (TWU) on Oct. 8. The score stayed at 2-1 until TWU scored in the 59th minute tying the game at two.

In what proved to be a defensive showdown between the two Red River Conference teams, the Saints finally prevailed during the second overtime when senior Eric Torkildsen shot the winning goal on an assist by Rodriguez giving the Saints the 3-2 win.

Rodriguez led the Saints in shots with seven, five of which were on goal.

During the game in New Mexico against the University of the Southwest, Rodriguez scored one of four goals to give the Saints the win and a 2-1 conference record. The Saints are now among the top five teams in the Red River Conference.

Rodriguez is a native of McAllen, Texas, and a graduate of Nikki Rowe High School. He is majoring in physical therapy at OLLU.
