FORT WORTH, TEXAS (Sept. 30, 2011) -- The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's soccer team opened its conference play last evening with a win against Texas Wesleyan University (TWU) .


The 1-0  win, which came after double-overtime, improves the Saints record to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in conference, while TWU drops to 10-2 overall and 2-1 in conference.

 

During the first half, TWU outshot the Saints 6-5, but the Saints came back in the second half to shoot 5-3 and overpower the Rams in the first overtime with five shots compared to one for the Rams. The Saints' solo shot in the second overtime was the deciding factor when Stephanie Diaz received an assist from Victoria Vazquez to score the only goal of the game at the 103rd minute.
 

Saints goalkeeper Alyssa Mora recorded three saves, while the Rams' Aubree Gallegos finished with 10 saves.
 

Amanda Lozano led the Saints in shots with four, three of which were on goal. Evelyn Robledo finished with three shots, two on goal.

 
The Saints continue their conference schedule on Saturday when they take on the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, N.M.  In five previous meetings, the Saints are undefeated against the Lady Mustangs.
