WACO, TEXAS (Oct. 4, 2011) -- Nikole Gase of Our Lady of the Lake University earned Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors for Sept. 26-Oct. 3.

 

Gase, a junior defender from Bandera, Texas, led the Lady Saints' defense as it prevented both its opponents, University of the Southwest and Texas Wesleyan University, from scoring to ensure a pair of 1-0 victories. Gase also assisted on the goal that provided the difference against USW. OLLU is 2-0 in the RRAC and 6-4 on the season.

Gase is a Biology major and a Chemistry/Kinesiology minor at OLLU. This past year, she received Dean's List honors and was selected as a RRAC Scholar Athlete.

The NAIA Champions of Character program aims to instill five core values in NAIA athletes, coaches: respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship. Our Lady of the Lake University shares and supports these values and strives to promote the Champions of Character program by working with students, coaches through our Champions of Character educational program.
